Lawrence Turman

Lawrence Turman (born 28 November 1926, Los Angeles, CA) is a producer who presently serves as the director of The Peter Stark Producing Program at the University of Southern California. He was nominated for an Academy Award for The Graduate (1967), Turman has since produced films such as Pretty Poison (film) (1968), The Great White Hope (1970), Caveman (film) (1981), Mass Appeal (1984) and Short Circuit (film) (1986). A member of the Producers Guild Hall of Fame, Turman is on the board of the Producers Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has recently executive produced a number of films, such as the modern classic, American History X (1998), starring Edward Norton as a reformed neo-Nazi struggling to protect his embattled younger brother from the trappings of hatred with which he is all too familiar.
In 2005, Turman published a book entitled, So You Want to be a Producer with Three Rivers Press.
