Lawrence Di Rita

Lawrence Di Rita (born in Detroit, Michigan) was acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, where he was The Pentagon's primary spokesperson.
In addition, he served as Special Assistant to United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, where he was one of a handful of close Rumsfeld advisors.
Di Rita joined the US Navy and graduated from Johns Hopkins University and the United States Naval Academy, after which he became a United States Navy officer.
Leaving the Navy in 1994, Di Rita joined the influential Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., where he was a foreign policy and defense analyst. Di Rita also has served as a Congressional aide to United States Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.
