Same-sex marriage isn't legal in South Africa. While courts have ruled in favor of same-sex marriage there, the law has yet to be changed. At present same-sex marriages are not performed in South Africa. NoIdeaNick 06:30, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
This map is for the present state of the world. It should be reverted to the last version before South Africa was added. 64.231.79.42 00:58, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No Unions in Maryland
While I am hoping, there are no Unions availible in the US state of Maryland. The highest court in the state is going to (soon) hear a case on marriage.
- You are quite correct. I will make the change. NoIdeaNick 22:47, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Australian states
I notice in Same-sex marriage and Same-sex marriage in Australia, the different states have different laws; however in this map, it is all the same colour. (Tasmania looks like it may be slightly darker - and would make sense since it has the most accepting homosexuality laws - but it is hard to tell since the colours are similar and it is an island state). Are any suitable maps including sub-national entity borders available on Wikipedia? -- Chuq 04:44, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes for some countries such as Australia there is, see here Image:BlankMap-World-USA-Can-UK-Aus.PNG --Astrokey44 23:59, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] About Egypt
The map says that in Egypt homosexuality is illegal but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_laws_of_the_world -> Africa -> Egypt -> Legal.
[edit] About Slovenia
I wonder why the map indicates that Slovenia has introduced full-fledged marriage rights for same sex couples. I have followed the debate on this matter in Europe and was completely unaware that Slovenia introduced a gender neutral marriage. Are you sure this is true? From what I find in the news I gain the impression that Slovenia introduced civil partnerships or civil unions, but not same sex marriage...
I now also discover that Wikipedia, in its entry on same-sex unions in Slovenia, does not refer to same sex MARRIAGE, but only to same-sex unions. A misunderstanding might have arisen as a result of one recent press article that mistakenly identified the July 2006 civil union law as "gay marriage"...
That also irritated me.
I don't know how to edit the map. Could someone change Slovenia's status? (R3NL 16:29, 26 August 2006 (UTC))
