Lavinia Fitzalan-Howard, Duchess of Norfolk

Lavinia Mary Fitzalan-Howard, Duchess of Norfolk, LG, CBE (22 March 1916–10 December 1995) was a British noblewoman, most notable for her marriage to the 16th Duke of Norfolk, and her subsequent proximity to the Royal Family. From 1975 to her death in 1995, she was Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex and a steward at Goodwood.

Her husband, as Duke of Norfolk, was Earl Marshal, and thus responsible for organising the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. During the rehearsals, Lavinia stood in for the Queen and was crowned at Westminster Abbey.

For many years, the traditional curtain-raiser to the English international cricket season was a match between Lavinia, Duchess of Norfolk's XI and the visitors, played at Arundel Castle.
