Lavay Smith

Lavay Smith is an American singer specialising in the blues, jazz and bebop songs of the 1940s and 1950s. She is known as The Queen of Classic Jazz & Blues.

Since 1989 she has fronted the band known as ‘’’Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers’’’. The band consists of: Mike Olmos (Trumpet); Bill Ortiz (Trumpet); Allen Smith (Trumpet); Danny Armstrong (Trombone); Jules Broussard (Alto and Tenor Saxophones); Pete Cornell (Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones); Charles McNeal (Alto and Tenor Saxophones); Ron Stallings (Tenor and Baritone Saxophones); Howard Wiley (Tenor Saxophone); Charlie Siebert (Guitar); David Ewell (String Bass); Darrell Green (Drums); Chris Siebert (Piano, Arranger, Bandleader); and David Berger (Arranger).

The band has won numerous awards.
