Talk:Laurie Coleman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An anonymous user took out the part about her age being kept a secret. First, I've looked high and low to find out her birthdate (which is relevant to this article), and since the only thing I could find was that she keeps her age a secret, I filled in as many blanks as I could. What does everyone else think? I really don't think this is being mean to the woman

- I am the one who took her speculation out of her age. It would be nice to have her dob, but I have never seen in any other bio where people attempt to guess at what her age is by her husbands age or how old her children are. It is hardly encyclpodic to put such a stupid looking sentence in her bio. I really do not think she even needs a bio after all she only the wife of a US Senator a small time actress not really all that well known. And this is comming from someone who voted for her husband in 02 and 98 when he ran for governor.
- I noticed your friend edwin work on the Pat Choate article he was the 96 Reform party veep candidate now we do not have his dob on his page but I suppose we could put that he had been at least 35 years old in 96 in order to run for veep but we would not put that on because it would look stupid.

- Just for the record, Pat Choate was 55 years old when he was running with Perot, but I could not find his exact DOB. My main point is that Laurie Coleman is a public figure, and she tries to keep her age a secret so that she has a better chance of getting an acting job, she admits this too in the boudior-photograph Washington Post interview. I don't know if you saw Edwin's revision, but he took the speculation out, and put in the fact that she hides her age so she has a better chance of working. So I'm going to revert to Edwin's sentence back because it does not attempt to guess nor speculate on her age. MicahMN | Talk 18:51, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I hope you added Choate age :) Actually the sentence you put in is worse imo because that makes it look more like a knock against her. I don't think you orginially put that sentence to knock her but when you read the article it looks more like a knock against her than an attempt to enlighten readers about how old she is. I think it would look much better and npov just not to put something like that in or just say she is the mother of two teenagers. Let the reader draw from that she has two teenager kids how old she probably is. Also do we really know that is why she does not give her age. Something like at least if it was source would be better
- This is from the Post story: Revealing photos aside, she guards this secret: her age. She fears losing roles. The Colemans have two teenagers, but she quickly points out, "I got married very young." I personally think that is proof enough, but I'll leave it up to you if you'd like to revert it.MicahMN | Talk 23:50, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I read the article so I can you your view about it being proof enough, but articles like that are kinda of puff pieces not hard news fact stories so I would perfer to leave it out.
