[edit] Origin and Description
Laurino is a country that rises on a hill, to 531 mt over the sea level, and dominates on the entire surrounding landscape. The past has been more glorious of the present, in fact in the past the population exceeded the 20,000 units, while now because of emigration, we have nearly 1.900 units. It originates its name, almost probably, from the fact that the vegetation is rich of bay, consequently derives some from the Latin (Laurus, Laurinus) Laurino. It's crossed from the river Calore, of rainy origin and a lot of particular fauna, like as an example the otter. In the course of the centuries the ancient populations have left testimonies of their passage, in fact it is possible to admire two wonderful medieval bridges to mule back. Rich of vegetation, Laurino in past was known like "the pearl of the Calore".
