Laurie is moving out of the house with a roommate who she tells her family is a girl. Hyde gets to have her room instead of Eric who wanted it as well. Red doesn’t think Laurie is ready to move out yet because to him she is still his innocent little girl. Kelso is excited that Laurie is moving out because he’s always afraid of being caught when he does it at Eric’s house. Laurie tells him he can’t come near her place and that he was just a guy she fooled around with when she was bored. Downstairs Jackie is watching TV and in front of her Laurie tells Kelso she found a t-shirt of his in her room and throws it too him and leaves. Jackie gets suspicious when Kelso tells her it isn’t his, but his mother had sewed his name in it. Donna tells Eric that she’s glad Laurie’s moving because she doesn’t want to keep covering for Kelso. Jackie then talks to her and asks her if she thinks Kelso is lying or she’s just overreacting, but she says that that sounds good not saying if he is or not. Kelso confronts Hyde asking him why he’s always trying to get him caught in the act of cheating with Laurie. Hyde tells him he would never get him caught, but he’s just having fun knowing that eventually he’ll get caught anyways.

Red is unsure Laurie is equipped for her move out so he plans to visit her with Eric the next day with a smoke detector and some donuts. As he knocks on the door a man answers the door and Red assumes he’s got the wrong apartment, but then Eric asks if Laurie is there and the man tells him yes. Laurie sees Red and he says nothing and just walks away. Eric on the other hand can’t stop laughing and just follows his dad. Red comes home and is very upset that Laurie is living with a guy and isn’t as innocent as he thought. Eric is very happy that finally Laurie has been caught by Red for being a whore. Kelso asks Hyde for advice on how to handle Jackie by using denial and a counterattack Kelso then uses Hyde’s instructions on Jackie, but instead of saying that she’s sorry she tells him if anything is going on she will find out, which scares him a little bit.

Kitty forces Red to let Laurie share dinner with them and as soon as Eric starts to pick on her and she asks for Red to back her up, he agrees with Eric that she has no respect for the family which hurts Laurie. Eric tries to defend her and tells Red that he’s overeating which makes Red get up and leave. Kitty goes up to Laurie’s old room where Red is standing and helps him realize that Laurie is an adult now and she’s going to do stupid things, but the right thing to do is to love her through it all. Laurie is almost crying when Red comes down and apologizes telling her that she’s not his little girl anymore and he needs to accept her for the adult that she is. She tells him she’s sorry and asks to move back in. Red takes her back, hugs her, and leaves. Kitty asks if Laurie’s roommate kicked her out but Laurie tells her he moved back in with his wife. Hyde looses the room back to Laurie, but not after a little bit of a struggle.
