Laughing Shino (Japanese: 笑うシノ - Warau Shino) is episode 186 of the anime series Naruto.

Naruto and Shino have been sent to Motoyoshi village for a job. On the way, they meet a creepy old woman who tells them that in that village, even the dead laugh. Naruto, narrating, says that at this point in the story, no one knew that a horrible event was likely to occur.
When Naruto and Shino arrive, then find that their task is a man named Moshino Kagetsu Fuuta whose father, Otou-chan, has recently died. The will, unfortunately, has a number of odd clauses, the most important being that if Moshino or his appointed representative laughs during his father's funeral, his inheritance will be divided amongst the rest of his family. Tsunade has wisely appointed Shino the mission leader for precisely this reason: as Naruto comments, he has never seen Shino laugh.
Unfortunately, when testing Moshino's food for poison the night before the funeral, Shino ingests a "laughing drug" which makes him laugh uncontrollably. While Shino's bugs can normally break down poisons, the drug makes all of them laugh as well. Naruto is forced to take his place.
At the funeral, Naruto and Moshino meet Tsukiko, the person who stands to gain the most from making Naruto laugh. She is very pleased to see Naruto, whom she thinks will be an easy opponent. Shino, still laughing uncontrollably, is watching everything from a tree, and spots the strange old woman nearby.
The funeral is one near-disaster after another with Tsukiko and the other family members arranging for comical events. Shino manages to cause a distraction to cover Naruto's first bout of laughter, but from then on, Naruto is on his own as family members rip their pants, shoot flowers out of their noses and taunt him incessantly.
Shino, meanwhile, tracks down old woman and finds her meeting with Mai, Moshino's sister. The old woman is giving Mai more laughing tea she says will "take care of everything" when Shino confronts them, laughing madly.
Back at the funeral, the family members are lying about, exhausted from all their efforts to make Naruto laugh. As the funeral begins to end Tsukiko's husband tries one last bizarre stunt with a painted face on the old monk guy. Naruto tries to think of a sad memory, but only Jiraiya's face comes to him and he almost loses it.
Just then, the dead Otou-chan appears and bursts out laughing. Visions of Tsukiko and Moshino as children appear, and the seeming ghost of their father instructs them not to fight with each other and then begins to shout out gags and dance about, reminding everyone what a joker he used to be.
As if things weren't bizarre enough, Mai arrives with the old woman who then pulls off her mask, revealing yet another Otou-chan. The visions vanish, revealing Shino, who says that his laughing has stopped. Otou-chan explains that he didn't think he could get people to come unless they thought it was his funeral. He says that this strange event is all because he had realized that, since the family had become rich, all the laughter and fun from their days in poverty had been replaced by greed and infighting. The family reconciles with some more corny jokes.
As they are leaving, Shino reflects that while the medicine made him laugh, he's wasn't really laughing deep down. Naruto, however, realizes that the jokes that the vision of Otou-chan made were in fact Shino's own rare sense of humor. When he mentions this to Shino, Shino grabs him gives him a death stare and tells him to forget it. Glumly, Naruto complains that he really just doesn't get along with Shino.
