Talk:Latrodectus tredecimguttatus

I would like clarification on the issue of L. lugubris, and why it is thought to be the same species as tredecimguttatus. Is there are reference which clarifies this (neither of the links provided mention lugubris). I am not an expert in spiders, but the photos provided by Fauna Laboratories (Kazakhstan) do not look similar to those in the article. Is there a simple explanation for this apparent discrepency?
- The World Spider Catalog [1]--the link covers the family which includes Latrodectus, lists L. lubugris as a synynom for L. tredecimguttatus. IIRC, L. lubugris is all-black in color (rather than having 13 red spots), so many thought it a different species, but the two color varieties apparently can mate. --EngineerScotty 13:42, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
