Road Rules: Latin America

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This was the seventh season of Road Rules. It took place in Latin America in the countries of Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Belize.

[edit] Cast

  • Josh Florence
  • Abe Ingersoll
  • Brian Lancaster
  • Sarah Martinez
  • Gladys Sanabria
  • Holly Shand

[edit] Memorable Moments

  • This cast adopts the first ever Road Rules dog, Menudo. They got the dog after their first mission was to find the key to the RV which was attached to the collar of a chihuahua amidst hundreds of other chihuahuas in a stadium in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico.
  • Abe shocked the cast with his personality, who at 18, was the youngest and most immature of the cast. He was also raised by a lesbian couple.
  • The cast runs alongside the Rarimuri tribe of Mexico in a grueling marathon in which they have to run for miles kicking a small wooden ball.
  • The cast makes a spaghetti short for a Mexican film festival.
  • After the Road Rules Face-Off with Down Under, Gladys confronts Abe for hooking up with Susie of the Down Under cast in the "messy" RV. In response, Abe repeatedly calls Gladys a "bitch". This provoked Gladys to strike Abe when they're preparing to leave a hotel for their next destination. Gladys is sent home as the first Road Ruler to ever be kicked off the series.
  • The cast completes a guerrilla-style mission to get Volkswagen beetles.

[edit] Trivia

  • The only time in the history of Road Rules where a castmember was not replaced after being sent home.
  • The cast actually called Mary-Ellis Bunim at a payphone in Mexico to ask her to bring Gladys back. This effort was actually spearheaded by Abe himself, who regretted his role in sending Gladys home. After consulting with Jonathan Murray, it was decided that Gladys could not be brought back because of legal issues ("liabilities" ensuing from the matter.
  • After the show wrapped, it was revealed shortly after that Abe was somehow able to "hack" into the network of computers at the Bunim-Murray Production headquarters in Van Nuys, California. During the casting process, Abe was able to access several documents kept during casting that detailed his interviews and what they were looking for specifically in the casting sessions. The producers knew of his computer background, which was mentioned as him being a "computer genius" on the first couple episodes of the show, but they didn't know he had seen those documents until after they finished filming.
