Latin American Globalization Index

The Latin American Globalization Index is a relative measure of the extent of globalization of 17 Latin American countries, based on six key indicators. It was first published in October 2005 by the Latin Business Chronicle, based on 2004 data.
The measures of globalization used to compile the index are:
- exports of goods and services as a percent of GDP
- imports of goods and services as a percent of GDP
- foreign direct investment as a percent of GDP
- tourism receipts as a percent of GDP
- remittances as a percent of GDP
- Internet penetration
According to the latest index, Panama is the most globalized country in the region, followed by the Dominican Republic, while Argentina is the least globalized, followed by Peru.
