Late Junction
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Late Junction is a music programme on the BBC Radio 3 station. It is presented by Fiona Talkington, Verity Sharp, and occasionally Shaheera Asante, Mark Russell or Robert Sandall. Its eclectic selection of music caters to many tastes. It is not uncommon to hear medieval ballads juxtaposed with 21st century electronica, or jazz followed by international folk music followed by an ambient track. The show has a laid-back mood overall, and it generally draws to a close with quiet and soporific music.
While each presenter plays a variety of music, Fiona Talkington tends to play more conventional jazz, Verity Sharp more folk music, especially that featuring fiddle-playing, and Shaheera Asante more world music.
The show originally ran from Monday through to Thursday, but from early 2007 it runs most weeks of the year on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, normally starting around 11:15 pm. Shows of the last week can be heard over the Internet at the Late Junction website.
