Talk:Lasagna (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The purpose of the requirement of "notability" is: "This requirement ensures that there exists enough source material to write a verifiable, encyclopedic article about the topic." In the case of a song, there obviously enough such source material anyway, namely the lyrics, the author, album, publisher, sleeve notes etc. So the purpose of the requirement is satisfied. So no song should be nominated for deletion based on notability. In fact, there is a whole Wikipedia project for Songs, that aims to catalogue and provide information on them. If the nominator proposes a song for deletion, then they should in fact propose that this whole project be deleted. Otherwise, the nominator judges, which song is nice enough to be included and which is not, and this kind of judgement is against the rules of Wikipedia.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.91.2.68 (talk • contribs).
[edit] Proposed delete notice
I removed the notice because I object to the deletion. I believe the song is notable enough to warrant an article on Wikipedia. The song is a single released by an established musician, "Weird Al" Yankovic. In addition, it appears on one of his studio albums and several of his compilation albums, including a greatest hits album. Also, Yankovic has performed the song with his full band on television as well as adding song the setlist of several of his concert tours, including his most recent one in 2004. Yankovic also created a makeshift video for the song that appeared on his television show and is contained as bonus material on one of his DVDs. --Elvis 20:54, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
