The term Last Resort usually refers to an action that is used only when no other option remains.

An action of last resort can be:

• Using weapons of mass destruction.
• A collision course.
• Initiating self-destruct.
• Scuttling a ship.
• Final surrender or, conversely, launching a suicide attack.
• Going to war and, at the farthest extreme, initiating nuclear war (because it is internecine).
