From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lars Sven (Lasse) Hallström (born 2 June 1946 in Stockholm) is a Swedish film director. He is the son of the writer Karin Lyberg (1907-2000). He has two children, Johan (1976) from his first marriage to Malou Hallström and Tora (1995) with present wife Lena Olin.

Hallström learned his craft making music videos, in particular those made for the group ABBA, which pioneered the era of the music video, and also many innovative styles of film making. All of ABBA's videos were directed and shot by Hallström (excluding 'Chiquitita', which was made by the BBC, and 'Under Attack' and 'The Day Before You Came', which were directed by Kjell Sundvall and Kjell-Åke Andersson). After the international success of My Life as a Dog, he has been working on American movies.
