- 1889 founded to make bridges
- branches out into tankage (eventualy decides that is the primary focus)
- 1984 buys Liquid Carbonic (find asource for the claim that it was to insulate from cyclical fab bis)
- 1986 buys Statia Terminals
- 1996 bought by Praxair (find a source for the claim that Praxair wanted LC only), merges in CBI industries. Sells Statia terminals, announces intent to spin off CBI itself in a IPO
- 1997 CBI NV goes public as a netherlands corp with two operating subsidiaries
