Larunda was a Roman nymph who informed Juno about the relationship between Jupiter and Juturna. Jupiter had Larunda's tongue torn out and condemned her to the realm of Pluto. Mercury, messenger of the gods, was ordered to conduct her to the Underworld in his capacity as psychopomp. He fell in love with her and she bore him the Lares.
