Larry McKibben is the Iowa State Senator from the 22nd District and President Pro Tempore of the Iowa Senate. He has served in the Iowa Senate since 2000. He received his BA from the University of Northern Iowa and his J.D. from the University of Iowa.
McKibben currently serves on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Commerce committee; the State Government committee; the Veterans Affairs committee; the Judiciary committee, where he is the ranking member; and the Ways and Means committee, where he is the ranking member. He also serves on the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals Appropriations Subcommittee. Prior to serving in the Senate, McKibben was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives, District 3, in 1998.
McKibben was re-elected in 2004 with 14,185 votes, defeating Democratic opponent Wayne Sawtelle. [1]
