Larkin High School, or LHS, is a public four-year high school located in Elgin, Illinois, a north-west suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Elgin Area School District U46, which also includes Elgin High School, Bartlett High School, South Elgin High School, and Streamwood High School.

Larkin High School was built in 1962 on the former farm of Cyrus H. Larkin, whom the school is named after.

In 2005, Larkin had an average composite ACT score of 19.3, and graduated 88.8% of its senior class. The average class size is 18.7. Larkin has not made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievements Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act.[1]

Larkin competes in the Upstate Eight Conference. Its mascot is the Royals.

Larkin offers nearly forty extracurricular activities, including academic, service, and performing arts.

The Larkin Math Team consists of students in all four grades and is coordinated by Liam Keigher. They had an outstanding 2005-2006 season.

  • They were the ICTM Regional Champion (2nd consecutive regional title) and placed 17th at the ICTM State Math Meet.
  • The Oral team of Greg Damhorst and Naomi Thompson placed 9th at State. Greg Damhorst was selected as All-Conference in NSML for Orals.
  • Larkin was 4th in the Horwat Division of NSML and won an improvement award for the second year in a row.
  • The Sophomores scored a perfect meet (the team's second ever) in NSML and placed 3rd in their division. Four students scored perfect papers this year in NSML. Chase Sund, Brad Thopmson, and Samantha Young each had one. John Rot had two perfect papers.
  • The team placed 22nd in the state in ILML, and John Rot tied for 20th.
  • John Rot was the school winner for the AMC12, and A. Haggard was the school winner for the AMC10.
  • Larkin won the 2006 Pedagoguery Award for the State of Illinois for the best improvement in team score from the 2005 American Mathematics Contest 10 contest to the 2006 AMC 10 contest. The award was sponsored by Pedagoguery Software, Inc., British Columbia, Canada.
