Laos Memorial

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Laos Memorial is a small memorial in Arlington Cemetery located between the path to the JFK memorial and the Unknown Soldier to commemorate the veterans of Secret War in Laos. Approved by the Department of Defense, but paid for by the Hmong veterans, the memorial stands as a tribute to the Hmong, Lao, and other ethnic groups and American advisors that made up the Secret Army. The memorial was dedicated in May 15, 1997. This day marks a special day in Hmong/Mong history because it was the first time that the United States Government publicly recognized the deeds of these brave soldiers who were so loyal to the United States and its ideals of freedom.
