Langwarrin is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Its Local Government Area is the City of Frankston.
Langwarrin's most prominent landscape feature is a large Flora and Fauna reserve (formerly the Langwarrin Military Reserve). The nature reserve has many walking tracks and is an ideal place for quiet recreation activities such as walking, nature study and photography.
Another prominent feature, located in the centre of Langwarrin is the picturesque Cruden Farm, home to Dame Elizabeth Murdoch, a long time resident.
McLelland Gallery and its surrounding sculpture park is another highlight.
Langwarrin is the location of the now-defunct Leisureland Fair amusement park, the largest operating amusement park in Victoria at that time. There is a small lake with the old bridge going over it, this is a not so well-known fishing spot but young kids love to get down to catch eels and redfin.
Langwarrin has a skatepark, this has been in Langwarrin for several years and plans to upgrade it are coming up in the Frankston Council. There is a fire station on Centre Road which celebrated it's 75th year of service on Australia Day 2007.
Langwarrin has an Australian Rules Football Team (Langwarrin Kangaroos), Football team (Langwarrin Lions - Langwarrin Soccer Club), Several junior Basketball teams, tennis, netball, cricket and dancing teams.
Langwarrin has two main shopping centres, including Gateway Shopping Centre and Langwarrin Plaza Shopping Centre. It also has a number of small shopping strips, including the Foot St Shops, and the Corner Shops at North & Warrandyte Rds. Gateway Shopping Centre is home to the largest Coles supermarket in the world.
Langwarrin has a reputation for being family-friendly. With booming, but still cheap, housing prices, and localised infrastructure, 'Langy' (as the locals affectionately call it) continues to swell with an influx of new and young families.
