Langlade Island, also referred to by foreigners as "Little Miquelon", is part of the commune (municipality) of Miquelon-Langlade, in the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Located in the North Atlantic, south of Newfoundland's Burin Peninsula, it is linked to the island of Miquelon by a 12 mile sand dune.

Langlade lost its sole year-round inhabitant, Charles Lafitte[1] when he died in July 2006. However, Langlade is a summer retreat for many inhabitants of Saint-Pierre. In the summer, Langlade's population can swell up to 1000.

  1. ^ Charles Lafitte was widely known on the islands as "de Gaulle", and lived as a hermit on Langlade for many years with his dogs.
