Langeland municipality

As of January 1, 2007 Langeland municipality will, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), come into existence as a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Denmark. It will consist of the (what are currently existing, but on January 1, 2007) former municipalities of Tranekær, Rudkøbing, and Sydlangeland. This will create a municipality with an area of 290 km² and a total population of 13,937 (2007). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Syddanmark ("South Denmark Region").
