Landsford and Laura Ingalls
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lansford Whiting Ingalls (November 12, 1812–May 21, 1896) and Laura Louise Colby Ingalls (November 5, 1810–October 18, 1883) were the paternal grandparents of Laura Ingalls Wilder and the parents of her father Charles Ingalls. They also feature as characters in Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House in the Big Woods (1933).
Lansford and Laura were introduced in the series when Charles brought his family to their house for a dance. While they are mentioned in later books, their last physical appearance in the series comes when they - in addition to all the Ingalls aunts, uncles, and cousins - watch as Charles, Caroline, Laura, Mary, and Carrie leave for Kansas in Little House on the Prairie (1935). Lansford, born in Canada, was referred to as Grandpa and Laura, born in Vermont, was referred to as Grandma.
Lansford's mother was Margaret Delano, of the famed Delano family, and was a descendant of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren.
