Lanasaurus scalpridens Gow, 1975 |
Lanasaurus (LAY-na-SAWR-us - Meaning "wooly lizard") was a genus of dinosaur from the Early Jurassic (Hettangian to Sinemurian Ages). Found in Africa, the animal was 1.2 meters (4 feet) long. It was a heterodontosaurid ornithischian.
According to the DinoRuss web-site: "The teeth of Lanasaurus were sharpened by grinding against each other and ended up looking like chisels. New teeth grew to replace the old ones in groups of three."
The type species is Lanasaurus scalpridens, described by Gow in 1975. It may in fact be Lycorhinus.
