Lan Di (born Longsun Zhao) is a fictional character and principal antagonist who appears in Shenmue and its sequel Shenmue II. Lan Di kills Iwao Hazuki, whom he blames for the death of Zhao Sun Ming, at the start of Shenmue. He also takes a precious stone mirror engraved with a dragon design. This mirror is called the Dragon Mirror, and is one of a pair - the other being the Phoenix Mirror. Lan Di is one of the four high ranking members of the Chinese criminal syndicate known as the Chiyoumen. He is master of a legendary Chinese martial art known as Tiger Swallow Style.

[edit] Role in Shenmue and Shenmue II

Ryo Hazuki, the player character in Shenmue and son of Iwao Hazuki, has taken upon himself to find out why Lan Di took the Dragon Mirror and the exact truth behind his father's death. He begins a quest to find out answers, and to figure out who Lan Di really is. As the story moves on from Shenmue to Shenmue II, Ryo finds that he is always one step behind Lan Di.

[edit] Trivia

Lan Di's appearance and fighting style clearly resembles Virtua Fighter's Lau Chan.
