[edit] Potential for original photography
Little piece of Mecca mentions that free tours are sometimes run of the Lakemba mosque. It might be a way to get photos of the building. Andjam 02:38, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Imam Ali Mosque at Lakemba?
"Keysar Trad: Well the term ‘Darulfatwa’ is exclusive right of the representative of Darulfatwa in Lebanon, that’s Imam Yahya Safi who operates out of Lakemba Mosque." Go on, dont keep me in suspense! - tell me why you doubt this. (humour) Some people are calling something "Imam Ali Mosque". SmithBlue 14:26, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
- Have 1 of lawyer/lecturer giving mosque name as: Imam Ali ben Abi Taleb Mosque.

- That's inconclusive. I know that the majority of the congregation at this mosque - of which I'm a part - call it simply "Lakemba mosque". There's no reason why Wikipedia should refer to it as otherwise, when there's no agreement on what else to call it. It's a needless bother. -- Shoejartalk/edits
- I'm not suggesting changing the name of the article - it does appear from Irfan Yusuf's article in a reputable published source that "Lakemba Moseque" has a formal title of "Imam Ali ben Abi Taleb Mosque". Could you check up on this name - as you can see an abreviated version of it appears on www.arabicpages.com.au and http://www.yahyasafi.com/biography_e.html
I'm not asking you to prove a negative - just see what people in the organisational side of things say. If that fails please ask Sheikh Yahya Safi why "Imam Ali Mosque" is on his biography webpage. SmithBlue 12:57, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- From looking around the Web, it appears that it is referred to as the "Imam Ali Mosque". I don't know if that's the official name. I might be wrong about what the "majority of the congregation" call it, also. -- Shoejartalk/edits
I'd never heard of "Imam Ali ben Abi Taleb" till i started researching Sydney Muslim culture. I have found another variation on the name, "Masjid Ali Bin Abi Taleb, known as Lakemba Mosque", from Sheikh Shady's bio on http://www.sydneyic.org.au/Sh_Shady.html SmithBlue 10:17, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
