Talk:Lake Berryessa

[edit] Hydrology

The "fist filled to design capacity in 1996" as currently stated is inaccurate. The spillway has operated numerous times before this (in particular the winter of 1983, when the lake reached a level of over 1.7 million acre feet - very nearly overtopping the dam). Looking at the records on the California Department of Water Resources website, it would appear that the first time the spillway operated (the lake was filled to design capacity of 1.602 million acre feet) was in 1963.

[edit] Location

To whoever said that parts of the lake were in Yolo County- not true, as far as I know. It all lies within Napa County. http://www.napavalleyonline.com/directory/wsmaps.html#county

  • The above is correct. The original reference (which was mine) was incorrect. Putah Creek is the Solano / Yolo border, but the lake itself is entirely in Napa County. I've fixed the article. MCalamari 18:02, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
