Lakshmi Persaud

Lakshmi Persaud is a prominent Caribbean novelist, whose ancestors were from India. She was born in Trinidad and Tobago. She is classified also as a novelist of the Indian diaspora. Some of her writings are on Indo-Caribbean themes as well as themes of cultural change. She has published four novels. She is a writer with a poetic style and her books are widely used in post-colonial and Caribbean literature courses. The Centre for Translation and Comparative Cultural Studies at Warwick University in the UK has established a Research Fellowship in her name. She had an academic career before turning to writing novels. She has B.A (Hons) and Ph.D degrees from Queen's University, Belfast.
