[edit] New Building
As a result of a bond issue on the 2004 ballot, Lakewood has received over 26 million USD to construct a new school building. Construction began in January 2006, and is expected to continue until the summer of 2007. The new building will have its official opening over the summer of 2007, and will be open for use by the student body and faculty starting at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year.
[edit] Academics
Lakewood has both honors and Advanced Placement programs for more advanced students. Lakewood is also the only International Baccalaureate school in the Jefferson County School District.
[edit] Athletics
Lakewood High School athletics are extremely competetive within the state of Colorado. Although not a strong finish in football in the recent years, the Soccer team, Ultimate Frisbee team, and Golf team have been ranked as within the top 3 in Colorado.
