Lakeside Security Department

A special security force formed at the turn of the century to patrol and provide security for the private Association, Chatauqua community of Lakeside, Ohio. The Lakeside Security Department was born before the formation of the Lakeside Association Police Department, and served as support staff for the police department from the early 1900's to 1994. The Security Department would patrol Lakeside, Ohio grounds on foot and in unmarked vehicles until the final break-up of the police department in 1994. With no arrest authority the security department was utilized as a fire watch and rules and regulations enforcer for the Association. The Lakeside Security Department became a lone identity in 1995 as serving support for outside law enforcement agencies assigned to patrol the grounds. The Lakeside Security Department is part of the Lakeside Municipal Services Division, and continues to operate today but in less capacity.
