The Lakeshore High School Marching Band won two consecutive Michigan Competing Band Association Flight III State Championships in 2002 and 2003. The band has been state runner-up five times since 1996 and is a consistent state finalist. The band also hosts the MSBOA District Six Marching Band Festival and its own Lakeshore Marching Invitational.

In concert season the band divides into the Concert and Symphonic bands, both of which have somewhat consistently received Division I ratings at MSBOA District Six band and orchestra festivals.

In 2003 the band marched in the National World War II Memorial Dedication Parade on Memorial Day. The band was featured on the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw for their participation. Video can be found here.
