The Goatman is a north American Cryptid reported to live in Silverton, Texas.
In 1969 numerous eye witness reported seeing large hairy creature in Silverton, Texas. Considered a hoax by the police force upon first inspection, officers later changed their minds after a group of thirty people gathered to watch the beast as it passed through a clearing near a wooded area. The police reported to the scene and also witnessed the event.
When someone tried to approach it, the monster threw a car tire at the crowd and fled into the woods. Police gave chase and shot the creature at least once; they followed a blood trail for a while until the creature disappeared. During this time, many footprints were spotted. No samples were obtained, but reports indicate the prints were around sixteen inches in length.
At least one photograph has been taken of the animal. Believers have classified it as an extinct species of mammal, or as a relative of sasquatch.
Reports died out by 1970, indicating that the "monster" may have moved on from the area or died.
In 2006 a group of around 20 teenagers recorded seeing a creature described as half man, half goat near the old mill.
