Horizon Casino Hotel, is a resort casino in South Lake Tahoe at Stateline, Nevada. Formerly the Sahara Tahoe and High Sierra Resorts, it is one of four major casino hotels at Stateline, Nevada.

[edit] History

The property opened as the Sahara Tahoe in 1965. Elvis Presley performed here from 1971-1976, and his suite is still available for guests to book[1]. In 1983 The hotel was given a western theme and re-branded Del Webb's High Sierra Hotel. In 1990 it was sold to Columbia Sussex who re-branded the hotel again as the Horizon Casino. As of 2005 Columbia Sussex (leaseholder) is in a contract dispute with Park Cattle Company, the landowners of the Horizon Casino and the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa (formerly Caesars Tahoe), which Columbia Sussex acquired from Harrah's Entertainment.

[edit] Film history

The 2007 movie Smokin' Aces was filmed at the Montbleu Casino and the Horizon Casino in the Summer of 2005.[1]
