The "Mölssee" or Lake Moels can be found in the back of the Wattental on a height of 2.240 meters. With an area size of 0,0346 km² it is one larger lake in the environment. First one has to follow the Wattental Road starting in Wattens. Then above the Moels alp the Lake can be reached by walking on a pretty steep route directing to the Moels nick. The mountain lake lies within a military area, so it can be visited on particular times only.
Water quality
The crystal-clear, clean mountain lake water has tremendous drinking water quality and is home of fishes like carps or trouts. The lake is very chill and even in midsummer temperatures of 16°C are rarely reached.
in - and outflows
The Moels Creek is the natural outflow and drains the lake and is one of the source creeks of the Wattenbach (Inn River). It has a length of 4,35 kilometers and together with the Lizum creek it forms the Wattenbach at Lager Walchen.
