Lake Grove is a village in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 10,250 at the 2000 census.
THE SMITH HAVEN MALL The Smith Haven Mall features Sears, JCPenny's, Macy's, Barnes & Nobles, Dicks sporting goods, cheesecake factory, TGI Fridays, Coach, Sharper Image, Brookstone, Abercrombie, Hollister, Gamestop, California Pizza Kitchen, Ruby Tuseday, Foot Locker, Banana republic, H&M, American Eagle, build-A-Bear, New York & Company, and Victoria Secrets. These are just some of the many stores that are in the mall.
The Village of Lake Grove is located in the Town of Brookhaven. Lake Grove is well known as a popular commercial area in Suffolk county, including stores and attractions such as the Smith Haven Mall, Sports Plus, Trader Joe's, Circuit City, Ben's, Zan's, and other large chain stores. An Apple Retail Store also opened on September 9, 2006 in the Smith Haven Mall.Additional stores and attractions are nearby in Nesconset, Stony Brook and South Setauket, including Costco, Borders Bookstore, an AMC Lowes movie theater, Target, Best Buy, and Home Depot.
The village features a number of different styles and prices of housing, including many well-maintained developments such as Crestwood Forest, Lake Grove Estates, Country Pointe, The Pines, Brittany Hills, and Country Woods. The village also features a number of different parks, recreational facilities, and a nature preserve for residents to enjoy.
It should be noted that there are additional areas within the Lake Grove zip code, such as the Hathaway Oaks development and parts of the Brittany Hills development, that are in unincorporated areas in the towns of Brookhaven and Smithtown respectively.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 10,250 people, 3,419 households, and 2,742 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,328.0/km² (3,436.8/mi²). There were 3,509 housing units at an average density of 454.6/km² (1,176.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 91.31% White, 1.44% African American, 0.09% Native American, 4.93% Asian, 1.00% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.84% of the population.
There were 3,419 households out of which 38.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.8% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.8% were non-families. 14.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.98 and the average family size was 3.31.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 34.7% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $67,174, and the median income for a family was $73,065. Males had a median income of $53,113 versus $33,253 for females. The per capita income for the village was $26,321. About 2.5% of families and 5.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.8% of those under age 18 and 3.2% of those age 65 or over.

Lake Grove is served by three school districts: Sachem in the southern section, Middle Country in the middle and northern sections, and Three Village in the northeastern section.
