Lairon (コドラ? Kodora in original Japanese language versions) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon from the Pokémon Franchise - a series of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri.

The name Lairon is derived from the word "iron", and possibly the word "lair", as its Pokédex entries reference to it being a Pokémon that is very territorial in guarding its lair. It is also very 'lairy' as described in the Hoenn Pokédex.

Lairon is a powerful Pokémon, however it is almost always favoured for its evolution, Aggron, as Aggron has better stats and a much wider moveset. It can be found in Pokemon Emerald, Pokemon Ruby or Pokemon Sapphire in the wild exclusively in Victory Road. Aron spends a relatively short period of time in the form of Lairon (only 10 levels), as compared to its 32 levels spent as an Aron, and it being an Aggron from Level 42 onwards.

Lairon has extremely high Defense. Any move of the Fighting or Ground Type will cause quadruple (4x) normal damage. Water moves may knock out a Lairon in one hit- as Lairon has a fairly low Special Defense and is weak to water moves.

As stated earlier, Lairon is very good considering it is not a final stage. It is banned from NFE and UE battling for these reasons as a choice banded Lairon is far too destructive for most other NFEs and UEs.

Lairon has only had two appearances in the anime, both relating to its usage in Pokémon contests. This can be somewhat misleading- a Lairon is a very formidable Pokémon in battling as well as in Pokémon contests, though somewhat different movesets are used.
