Laira is a fictional character in comic books from DC Comics. She was a Green Lantern from the world of Jayd.
[edit] History
Laira was trained and recruited by her father to take over his role as a soldier of the Guardians of the Universe. After the disappearance of their father, Kentor Omoto she was appointed a ring holder. Discovering that her father had become a tyrant on X'ol, she sought out the former Green Lantern and faced him. In her battling and ultimate defeat of Omoto, she refused to take his life. Thus, Omoto chose to atone for his indiscretions by committing suicide.
She was asked by the Guardians to defend Oa from Hal Jordan's invasion. In the battle that ensued she was defeated and left for dead.
In Green Lantern #11 (June, 2006) she was discovered by Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner to be held captive by the Manhunters, along with others including Kreon, and Tomar-Tu who had recently escaped to kill Jordan in revenge for his rampage.
