The inaugural Standard Chartered Lahore Marathon took place on January 30, 2005, in Lahore, Pakistan, with over sixty elite runners participating in a field of 17,500. The main event is the traditional 42 kilometer marathon distance, accompanied by six and ten kilometer events preceded by a gala dinner for international athletes, foreign dignitaries, government and corporate heads. The Punjab chief minister hosted the inaugural banquet for the marathon.

Tseko Mpolokeng of South Africa became the first winner, with a time of 2:16:57, followed by David Menyo of Kenya in 2:17:11 and Jemanine Boki Tanzania. The first Pakistani was Mohammad Aslam. Jane Kariuki of Kenya captured the women's division, followed by Todelech Birra of Ethiopia. Standard Chartered Bank was the title sponsor of the Lahore Marathon.

The next running of the Lahore Marathon took place on January 29, 2006.

The Lahore Marathon 2007 has taken place on January 14,2007and an Ethopian runner Ksemya Eramathia won it. Its main sponsor was Habib Bank.
