Hi,
The point is just the opposite of this: Neoabolitionist (or neo-abolitionist or new abolitionism) is a term that refers to the historiographic tradition in United States history adopted in the 1960s by historians who were part of the American Civil Rights Movement (1955-1968).
Foner et al. do not refer to themselves as neoabs. Foner in fact told me he does not care for the term, and doesn't like revisionist either. I asked him what they call themselves. He said there is no catchall term for what they do. Neoab, he said, is imprecise in that abolitionists advocated defeating slavery. He writes of the Reconstruction era where the abolition of slavery was a done deal. Best wishes to you. You have been doing good work, but we disagree on this. Skywriter 04:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I've noticed it is not a great idea to reveal identity and other info. Anyone can reach me by email via my Wiki page. I'm not a student. It is terrific that you want to delve more deeply into the Reconstruction era. The intro to Freedom's Lawmakers overturns the old order as do several books and articles by John Hope Franklin, especially e.g. Race and History. I'm stoked that you are working on these pages. I updated Scalawag. Let me know what you think. Skywriter 00:36, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
No, I'm not. It is public knowledge he is because he links to his web pages where his bio is. Skywriter 04:16, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Are you aware of what featured articles actually are. Take a look here to learn more. I think you ought to carefully read that. This article may well reach featured status in the future but it will require a lot of work. You may well wish to do that, if so I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about the process. --Wisden17 14:29, 21 June 2006 (UTC) --Wisden17 14:29, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Gibbs is a little bit interesting but we don't know enough about him and his impact for him to be really interesting. The circumstances of his death are not linked to any source, and that, I think, tends to weaken the claim. "Rumors" is not enough.
I worked hard to improve the Ku Klux Klan article because I think it has many problems. The long and short of it is that every single one of my changes were reverted by an administrator who treats the article like his personal fiefdom. Here's what I added.

I am feeling despondent over this because it is the featured article of the day and overall, I think it is a very poor article, very pro-Klan and extremely unfair to blacks. John Hope Franklin and Eric Foners, both former presidents of the American Historical Association were deleted from the article in favor of a forestry journalist named Horn who wrote a pro-Klan book but whom the article calls a "historian."(I pointed out over a period of several weeks that the link described his occupation, and yet the falsehood continues in the article as published as featured article today. It is so very hard for me to see that racism is so embedded that the murders of so many black people are glossed over, in this, the 21st century. I used to think Wikipedia had promise. I now think it is a collection of fiefdoms where racism rules. There have been a number of excellent recent books written about the Klan. Unfortunately, this article excluded all of them when they excluded all that I added, after the article had been closed to editing for weeks. Skywriter 00:21, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey Skywriter. I have been editing the Neocatechumenal Way article. I happen also to belong to the organization. Recently, a member from Italian wikipedia has been replacing my article with one that is blatantly anti the Way. Is there any way you can get the editors to put a ban on editing the article? -- Ladb2000
Hey there, I have no clue what this is about. Don't think I can help. Are you continuing to work on Reconstruction articles? (I stopped months ago, offended and discouraged by the over-arching racism of certain contributors). Skywriter 01:28, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mifflin Gibbs: Did he ever live in British Columbia?
Hello Ladb2000. Our history books in British Columbia note the presence in Victoria between 1858 and 1870 of an African American, born in Philadelphia, with the name Mifflin Wistar Gibbs. He apparently arrived here in BC from California and became a successful merchant and was even elected to Victoria City Council, making him very likely the first person of African descent to sit on a council in what would become Western Canada (BC was still a British Colony at the time) and possibly the first in Canada. Mr. Gibbs apparently left Victoria in 1870 when a recession settled in here and showed no signs of abating. Do you know whether the Mifflin Gibbs you wrote about spent any time in British Columbia?.Corlyon 03:22, 15 November 2006 (UTC)Corlyon
