Talk:Lac-Brome, Quebec

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My mother's parents, Charles Basil Price (1889-1975) and Marjorie Trenholme Price (1891-1979), appear as extras in the movie My Side of the Mountain. They are seen among a group of onlookers as Sam presents himself, in his wilderness outfit, to public view in Knowlton; he passes them while walking south along Lakeside Road at the Brome County Historical Society & Museum.

From 1952 until 1973 they lived next to St. Paul's Anglican Church. Every day, Basil would raise the Union Jack (Knowlton had a larger proportion of Anglophones than at present) over his wife's "English Country" garden. Marjorie raised many flowers and tended her raspberry patch, a source of pies and jellies. A huge American elm stood between the two houses on their property; it succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease by 1990. By then, the property had fallen into disrepair in many other ways and it remains the town eyesore today. :( Tony 03:50, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
