Lacu Roşu (Romanian for Red Lake, in Hungarian Gyilkos-tó, Killer Lake) is a natural-dam lake situated in the Eastern Carpathians chain in Harghita County, Romania. The lake was formed in the 19th century after a landslide obliterated its waterflow. Even today, in the lake can be seen tree trunks, remnants of the flooded forest.

Lacu Roşu is a popular touristic place attracting not only Romanians but also many Hungarian tourists. The lake belongs to the Gyergyó region around the town of Gyergyószentmiklós (Romanian Gheorgheni), which is inhabited by Hungarian szeklers.

Nearby you can find one of the most spectacular places in Romania, Cheile Bicazului (Bicaz Gorges). Red Lake (Lacu Roşu) is the only lake in the world formed as it is.

The tonic-stimulant climate^{[citation needed]} (characterized by relatively low atmospheric pressure) and the clean air (free of dust and allergens and strongly ozoniferous) account for the fact that the resort is recommended ^{[dubious — see talk page]} for the treatment of asthenic neurosis, waking conditions^{[citation needed]} , physical and intellectual overexertion^{[citation needed]} , growth disorders in children^{[citation needed]}, and rachitis^{[citation needed]} among others.

The lake's Hungarian name, meaning Killer Lake, stems from Gyilkoskő, the Hungarian name of one of the mountains overlooking the valley and probably refers to Hungarian folk tales about the mountain and the landslide.
