Labour Coordinating Committee

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Labour Coordinating Committee was a soft left ginger group within the Labour Party. Originally associated with the Bennite ascendancy of the early 1980s, the group evolved over time to support Neil Kinnock's modernisation efforts and finally acted as an influential network of Blairites (Tony Blair himself was a member) before being wound-up in 1998. Though small in number towards the end of its existence, the group was once called a 'cab and rank' for those seeking a career in New Labour. Several of those involved in the latter part of its existence now run Compass.
