[edit] History

La Tele was created by a group of communication companies on December 1, 2002 (which coincidentally happened to be the day before the Venezuelan general strike began). It had taken over the signal of channel 12 from the defunct Marte TV. Originally, eighty percent of La Tele's programming were imports.

[edit] Current schedule

You can see La Tele's Programming Chart. For those who can't read in the Spanish language, "Lunes" is "Monday", "Martes" is "Tuesday", "Miercoles" is "Wednesday", "Jueves" is "Thursday", "Viernes" is "Friday", "Sabado" is "Saturday", and "Domingo" is "Sunday".

[edit] Trivia

  • When La Tele was created, its owners didn't know what to name their new television station, so for a while it was just called "Canal 12" (La Tele's current logo was used by Canal 12 before the name "La Tele" was finally selected in mid 2003).
  • Marietta Santana, host of the show Y Punto, had a popular morning talk show on Radio Caracas Television. A Puerta Cerrada (the name of that show) aired during the 1980's and early 1990's.
