La Salle High School is a Catholic College Preparatory located near Portland, Oregon. The Brothers of the Christian Schools established La Salle in 1966 as part of their worldwide network of schools which began in 1679 with St. John Baptist de La Salle in Rheims, France. La Salle's current enrollment is approximately 623 and nearly 97% of graduates attend a college, university or technical school. Although still a Catholic school, nearly 30% of students are not Catholic. In addition, the school no longer employs any Christian Brothers as teachers. La Salle Milwaukie falls under the jurisdiction of the District of San Fransico. It offers a wide array of service for students and is generally considered to be one of the finer Private Highschools in Oregon. It has sent a number of its students to some of the top colleges in the world including Stanford. However, the vast majority of its students do not attend universities ranked in the top 100 on US News. Academically, most students receive GPAs that are greater than 3.5 as a result of a grading system that gives too many high marks to average students.
