La Dehesa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

La Dehesa is a neighborhood located in the Chilean municipality of Lo Barnechea, in northeastern Greater Santiago. It is inhabited by mid-high to high-income families.

La Dehesa is located in a valley, in the north bank of the Mapocho River. Due to its proximity to the Andes, it is common to see snow there in the winter (a rare occurrence in the rest of the capital).

La Dehesa is a quiet, residential neighborhood that is inhabited by some of the wealthiest people in Chile. The now deceased former Chilean head of state Augusto Pinochet lived there in his final years. Many of the area's houses feature neo-Georgian architecture and there is a complete absence of high-rise buildings.
