[edit] Annual Events

Each year, students partake in various events around the school. Some of these events include the Grad Committee's Dodgeball Derby; various dances put on by Student Council; The spring Multicultural show "Diggin' the Roots"; the 30 hour famine; Matheson's Got Talent (formerly Matheson Idol) and BYOB day (Bring Your Own Banana day, where students receive a free ice cream sundae). In recent years the school's Theatre Company has done three One Act Plays in December and a larger full length production in the spring. The schools band programme goes on a trip each year. Every second year they go to Banff and Edmonton for 6 days with the Senior Band class and ever other year they go on a bigger trip (past locations have included New York City, Disneyland and Cuba). Each Friday during the second class of the day students take time to watch "Matheson on the Move" a unique weekly news broadcast presented by volunteers and Mr.Killawee's Media Services 8 class.
