L'Auberge du Lac Resort

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

L'Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort, French for The Lake's Inn, is a Lake Charles, Lousiana based hotel and casino resort owned and operated by Pinnacle Entertainment.

[edit] History

Due to outlawing of gambling in nearby Texas, there is a large demand for casinos in close proximity to the state lines. While many smaller casinos exist near the Louisiana-Texas border along Interstate 10, L'Auberge du Lac was the first large establishment in the area, located about thirty miles from the border. First opening in May 2005, it currently employs over 2,000 employees. Despite its size, Pinnacle Entertainment is interested in an expansion of the hotel facilities to accommodate the influx of tourists. The new Sugarcane Bay casino, if approved, is expected to open in 2009 and would be connected to the L'Auberge du Lac Resort.

Pinnacle announced plans on June 20, 2006 to add 250 rooms to the existing property.
