Līvāni

Līvāni is a small town (population approx. 10,000) in central Latvia. It is situated at the junction of the Dubna and Daugava rivers, approximately 170 kilometers east of Riga, the capital.
In 1980-1990, population of the town was approximately 12,300. Later, people moved to other countries and cities bacause of unemployment and poverty. Livani used to be a large industrial city, however all that is left is a large glass factory "Livānu stikls" (Glass of Līvāni). [1] Lately the city is going through a phase of modernisation.
